Eye Make-up: What People Are UsingFor most of us, we like to enhance our eyes so they're a little more noticable, whether by using eyeliner, eye shadow, or just mascara. With so many different brands and products out there, it's hard to figure out which one to go with, so JADE Magazine decided to ask some women to share their recommendations (and their beauty secrets) for eye make-up. "I use cheap Revlon stuff. I like it because I like the smudgier look than the super thin line kind. And I'm just used to it and I have sensitive skin and it doesn't irritate. One thing I don't like abt my eyeliner is that it can smudge TOO much throughout the day." -Irene
"Maybelline expert eyes all the way (yes, the little red pencil). Have tried most of the designer and drugstore brands and this is the only one that - while it doesn't last all day for me, simply fades away as the day goes on. So I don't worry about raccoon eyes and that's enough to win my loyalty.
"-Karen "I do not use eye liner at all. I find that given the shape of my eyes, I always end up with raccoon eyes by mid day. So I stick to mascara and, for evenings, eye shadow." -Lan "I don't use makeup much. When I do use eyeliners, I use a stiff straight brush that is damp with water and dip it into a dark brown eye shadow and apply to the eyes for liner. Pro-easy to do and can manuver the brush to allow some area to be thinner than other Con- does not stay for more than few hours if one has skin on the oily side. Need to reapply every so often during the day." -Judy
I use Maybelline Cool Effects. PROs: It's a thick pencil, which makes it easy to put on and doubles as eyeshadow. Also, it's frosted for a touch of glamour. I use three shades in different combinations: plum rose, charcoal grey, and olive green. And it's inexpensive, less than $5 each.
Cons: When I sharpen it, it seems like too much of the eyeliner is wasted along with the pencil shavings. It also tends to cake on my eyelid if I wear it all day.
Dina
"Sephora Brand Long Lasting Eye Liner, one of the best liguid eyeliner that I found. It's easy to appied on,and thebrush is very precise."-AJ
"I use a dark Trish McEvoy eyeshadow powder and apply it with an angled Trish McEvoy brush along my lash lines. PROS: the effect is more subtle and more precise than using a pencil to apply the color. It stays on a long time and comes off easily with my MAC makeup remover. CONS: a shadow and brush are not as convenient as a pencil." -Jess
I use Mac Fluidline .
I swear this is the best make up product ever invented.
I like it because it stays on for the entire time and doesn't move into creases as much as other eyeliners. The colors always go on pretty intense and they go on as a gel so you can smudge them. This stuff really sticks and doesn't budge. The con to it is that you need to have an angled brush to apply it so it's a bit less portable than a pencil. Also it can be hard to get off your face. You have to use an oil-based make up remover, and even then there's sometimes stuff still stuck between your lashes. -Domi "Fluidline by MAC!! It's the best thing ever. Easy to put on and versatile. All you need is a little brush and you can make the lines however you want. Comes in different colors. Stays on all day. I highly recommend it to those who's been searching for the perfect eyeliner solution." - Karen W. "I like the Mac one I use because of the color and it is not as dry as some of the others I've used. But it does smudge a little after a couple hours out. I used to use maybeline but found that one too smudgy. I used to use chanel's too but felt like it was too dry and I couldn't get an even line because it was dry and choppy.I can't say I've loved any of the ones I've used, more like which is the least of all the evils. But I think it might also be because I may not have a good sharpener so I may not be getting a fine point. Also, I use dark blue which is not as common, so I am also a little bit limited to how many different types I've been able to try.' - Jenny I use Chanel and MAC. It stays put throughout the night and does not "melt" on my face. -YM
"I use Bobbi Brown gel liner. PROs: Control, easy to use,
easy on the skin, finished product is superb quality. Professional
grade. Cons What don't you like about your eyeliner/make-up? It requires a
liner brush to use. Not a big deal though." -Kathy
"I use several brands of eye makeup: Clinique for eyeliner - the quickliner - bec. it goes on smoothly, you don't have to sharpen it, and it comes with a smudger. I use eyeliner almost everyday and this one is priced right too. Stila eyeshadow - they have a set for smokey eyes that comes with a voice instruction, plus the colors are great." -Alvina |
