Dear Jade, My husband is addicted to porn and I'm not sure I'm okay with it. He'll go on a porn site every night or he'll watch porn at night when I'm in bed. He told me that most men do this and it's not about our relationship or sex life and that is normal. But I just don't understand why he needs porn when he has me. Should I just accept this because most men do this and this is normal? Anna HE SAID: Most people drink. Yet, some people drink more than others. Some people may even drink every waking moment. So what are we talking about here? Most men, as well as most women, watch porn. That is why the porn industry is a multi-billion dollar business. Is your husband spending a lot of money on porn? Is he watching porn nearly 24/7? Is he abusing porn the way some people abuse alcohol? Porn, for most men, is like shoes to most women. To keep up with the latest fashion trends, some women just have to buy certain shoes as soon as they hit the market. Genetics? Maybe. Will this affect your marriage - maybe, maybe not. Since your husband is interested in porn, perhaps you can talk him into turning that interest into an adult entertainment business of his own. At least you can capitalize from his interest and buy all the shoes you want. I see a win-win situation! |

SHE SAID: I don't know if all men watch that much porn. Although I have a suspicion that if they could, they would. It does seem a tad disturbing that he watches it every night in some form or another but yet it doesn't seem to be affecting your lives much as you say your sex life and relationship is normal and I'm assuming it hasn't affected his job. However, since it bothers you so much, maybe you could come up with some kind of agreement where he cuts down a bit. BUT MAMA SAID: Everyone needs an outlet of some sort after a stressful day at work but this does not seem like the kind of thing that is needed every evening. While you say your relationship is normal, it is odd that he needs this particular habit nightly. Have a talk with him to see if there is not something else that is going on that is making him watch these this every night. |
