What's for Dinner

By The JADE Magazine Staff

Figuring out what to eat never seems to be a very simple task, especially after a long day at work. We decided to combine our culinary brainpower and start a column of quick and easy recipes that we fall back on when we just don't feel like ordering in.

Soy-Braised Chicken Wings over Somen Noodles

1 package chicken wings (between 6 and 8 wings)
4 cups water
1 cup soy sauce
2 cloves garlic
baby bok choy
somen noodles

Cut tips off the wings, if attached, and then separate each of the wings at the joint. Then place them in a medium pot with the water and soy sauce. Crush the garlic to remove the skin and place the crushed cloves into the pot.

Bring to boil and then turn down heat and let the wings simmer for 30 minutes or longer. The longer you simmer them, the more tender and flavorful they will be. Stir occasionally to make sure all the wings get a chance to cook in the sauce.

While wings are simmering, cut and wash the baby bok choy. Steam or saute as you like.

When wings are almost finished, make the somen noodles. Place the noodles in a bowl, along with the bok choy and as many of the wings as you like. Ladle on some of the broth and you're ready to eat.

Note: The wings taste even better the next day.
